Temple Meads Old Station "might reopen"

Post by AndyK »

It has been stated on another newsgroup that Modern Railways is reporting Network Rail to be considering reinstatement of the Old Station to handle the increase in traffic following electrification. :D

I don't think they're considering it... we've been told they ARE going to do it, political interference aside. Bristol Panel is earmarked for closure in 2015 for immediate demolition to allow this to happen.

Apparently it's going to be a 15 minute frequency service to Paddington with the exisiting two trains an hour via Box supplemented with two an hour (departing from the Old Station) via Badminton.

I'm not sure if they're planning on 'violating' the Brunel part though. I'm sure the platforms would be long enough for the "Electric Voyagers" they've got planned if the blocks were by the Old Station Signal Box.

Cheers,
Alex
