This is the original forum of the Bristol Railway Archive that existed between 2003 and 2013. I finally rescued it after it seemed unrecoverable after a large crash. I have made it available for viewing. It is locked, all posts to the new version please!
Use this forum to talk about the railways in and around Bristol, or for any off-topic stuff you want to share. Also request photos and information that you are missing.

4700 was sitting on the scrap line for quite some months. It was withdrawn from Southall in September 1962 but presumably it had suffered a terminal failure at Bristol and never went back.
4702 and 4708 had been withdrawn by the time I got involved in September 1962, but I saw all the rest at some time or another. Unfortunately my notes from those days have failed to survive but I wouldn't be surprised if I saw them all around the Marsh. They didn't get used on the road much during daylight hours
Re 1365.
The engine was apparently surplus to requirements at its home shed of Swindon and was sent to SPM on loan. (I believe that it never carried a 82B shedplate).
I recall that it was mainly used on coal stage shunting duties.
A short sequence of the engine at the Marsh is featured on one of the Ivo Peters videos/DVD`s.
4700
I have a photo of this engine in the SPM repair shop with its left hand cylinder removed, Oct 1962.
I vivdly recall it being subsequently dumped in a siding adjacent to the coal stage for quite some time, and was probably removed for scrap early 1963.
6408
A former Westbury engine, it was withdrawn from Tondu shed Feb `62
and sent to 82B a stationary boiler. (The only 64xx I saw in BR service)
There is a photo of the engine "rigged up" in the Rex Coffin book "Steam Around Bristol"
1365 and 6408 both feature on the same page. I'd forgotten I had that book. It was donated to me along with others covering the Bristol area by an ex Bath Road man before he passed away.
