Has anyone heard of Ben Brooksbank? A poster on the GW elist has recently posted this link to his remarkable photo collection, currently over 2400, mostly railway subjects, & growing: http://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/44502
They date from about 1946 & there are quite a few from the Bristol area. This one caught my eye:

A LMS Compound in TM as late as October 1958 - I think this is about the latest I've come across. How did I miss seeing any!

Yes I have seen this chaps photos he has quite a few on geograph site I noticed him on there as I had been a member of that forum /site since 2007 I did comunicate with him last year and he has contributed to books and magazines too , it seems some of his pictures are very good many have been taken in some of the places that I used to go locospotting with my elder brother.
It is well worth going to the link above and just clicking on his name and see all his photos. as there are quite a few, not only of this area either.

Well seeing as we are one the subject of the GWR and the photos (hope you don't mind slightly drifting off topic of Bristol) on Temple Meads station did I see in a glass case the model 600 King George V complete with bell, Is this the model that used to be on Paddington Station in the 1950's. What happened to the full sized bell does it still exsist?
