I think they looked a lot better in Railfreight red stripe/large logo livery!

Are they using HST coaches then? Does that make the first coach a barrier/translator vehicle? What's it been converted from?

The coaches are just MK2s (painted pink!) I think it's the same set I travelled on at the East Somerset Railway diesel gala a month or so back.

I saw a 31 attached to a line of pink coaches in the sidings just north of Temple Meads yesterday...although it was in a black livery with a red stripe.

It also had a name that I was determined not to forget

heh! It was either 452 or 128. Minotaur or Charybdis. I've deleted my message telling me which ones were out and about yesterday, so can't tell you which one for sure.

Heh, as I said I was on one of these things last month, travelling from Bristol Temple Meads to Oldfield Park...it was different, but nice! (the conductor said anyone getting off at Avoncliff had to be in the front carriage, as he said the train wouldn't fit on the platform!)

The interior of them is really dated, each chair faces a table, and the chair and floor patterns really look old!

I can't remember if I said this but some poor guy couldn't open the door at Keynsham (was a manual lean out the window one), so he had to change at Bath Spa and get another train back! Anyone else ever have this problem?
(I only barely managed to open the door at Oldfield Park myself!)

The doors are difficult to open compared to modern plug door stock and I can understand why someone might have trouble getting them open.

I have to say I much prefer getting a ride in one of these coaches though. The legroom is great and I liked our family being able to site around a table.

Saw Charybdis, Intercity liveried MkIIs, and Fragonset Intercity-swallow-liveried 31454 in the bay behind platform 4 at Temple Meads this morning. A similarly liveried MKII brake seems to have taken up permanent residence at the end of this bay. The brake for this train was pink, and in the middle for some reason. It then pulled out of the bay and passed though the main station on the through line.

Didn't take any pics though, I'm not going to waste my precious film on rattly old diesels

'cept maybe a 55...there was supposed to be one heading our way in April but for some reason that never happened
