Minehead 40th Anniversary

Post by jules »

2nd Jan was 40th Anniversary of BR closing the Minehead Branch.

D7047 did the final honours back in '71, so we thought we'd celebrate by re-numbering our very own D7017 to D7047 and re-creating the clearance train.

FGW also kindly lent us a 150, which after a slight detour via Wellington emergency crossover - owing to a points failure at Norton Fitzwarren - delivered a full complement of 110 passengers to Minehead.

Enjoy!

Great pictures Andy!

I wonder if you remember what the coaches are here http://andy-kirkham.fotopic.net/p59868825.html There is something on the side of them, I'm guessing it says camping coach? I've often wondered what the facilities were like on a camping coach, I don't suppose the sleep would have been that great if they were that close to a running line!
