Odd goings-on at TM

I was at Temple Meads this evening and at about 1910 a passenger train (class 158, I think) ran non-stop on the through line between platforms 3 & 5. The train was full of passengers and was showing a Cardiff destination.

This isn't a regular working is it?

A bit later I was at Lawrence Hill and a Voyager ran in northwards, reversed and departed southwards.

What was going on?

Sounds like a points failure at Bristol East.
