This is the original forum of the Bristol Railway Archive that existed between 2003 and 2013. I finally rescued it after it seemed unrecoverable after a large crash. I have made it available for viewing. It is locked, all posts to the new version please!
Use this forum to talk about the railways in and around Bristol, or for any off-topic stuff you want to share. Also request photos and information that you are missing.

The first one was probably nicer before the A4174 was built, although the road viaduct looks pretty big so might be impressive as well as obstructive
I've walked under the A4174 bridge on the other side of the riverbank and it is indeed quite impressive!
(sort of ruins completely what was a pleasant river valley and the traffic above sends down choking fumes that settle in the valley floor, all typical 'king car' ruin everything in sight and forget the consequences )
Both roads and railways have dramatic effects on the landscape they pass through, but roads are much "harsher" somehow, a more solid, alien scar, whereas railways blend in after a while.

I saw this bug at the footbridge at Lockleaze today and it's now back as a three car unit!
The footbridge had the remains of that 'Police Keep Back' black and yellow tape all around it and at both entrances to the footpaths that lead to it. Anyone heard what that is all about!
