6024 King Ed I arrives at Temple Meads at 9.00pm from Devon.

Sunset c. 8.30 on Saturday, might make lineside shots 'interesting'.

If it's running a bit early a sunset/glint shot could be possible between Worle and Temple Meads, if it's on time a silhouette shot might just be possible instead. Weather dependant of course!!

Also passing through Bristol this Saturday is 70013 Oliver Cromwell on The Welshman.

Weather OK in the morning.

Doesn't look good for the King's run to Temple Meads.

OK, so at 10.50 I heard and then saw from my flat window, what must have been The Welshman going through Ashley Hill. I wasn't expecting it so missed a good photo opportunity. Never mind, I could catch it on the way back!

Could someone explain about the route? I see that it goes on the main line via Abbey Wood and Dr. Days to Bath. Does it miss out Temple Meads?

Nice shots from Newton St Loe.

Was at Pilning, but haven't yet sorted pictures out.

Yes. Dr Days to North Somerset junction, around the east side of the triangle.

In BR steam days and beforehand, this was the accepted route for the majority of trains between Cardiff and Salisbury. The Bristol stop was made at Stapleton Road.

Thanks very much. I did try and get some photos of its return journey from a bridge in Horfield, but either it was running early from the times listed and I'd missed it or it was very late. I gave up around 6 p.m. when it was also starting to rain!

It was running to time or just a little early. I wasn't intending to see it, but I saw it "by accident" as I was going from the M32 up to Filton and it passed by just as I went under the bridge at Abbey Wood. Must have been about 1655

Right. I must have missed it literally by seconds then. I arrived at the bridge at about 16.50 and my first lining-up photo is timed at 16.52. Then there was a First train going through at 16.57. My fault - it took longer to walk there than I had assumed. Never mind, conditions were hardly ideal!
