Re: Return of 82E 4F 43924

B1`s in Bristol....

Imagine, if you will, a young transpotter and his elder brother "bunking" 82B on a sunny Sunday afternoon circa April 1964.
The Marsh is in its dying throes, with very little of note on shed.
But wait...what is this lurking at the back of the shed......lo and behold...

I have a feeling that your journey may have taken place in July 1963, behind a Standard 3 (82xxx) tank.

The special was an RCTS railtour.

If you need more details, let me know.

Just come back from seeing 53809.

What a lovely sight, the loco coming back to where she belongs (abeit for just the week).

Looked atmospheric with the nice rake of wagons.

This afternoon 53809 was running clearance tests. First of all it was up to Oldland and around the loop. Then at about 16:40, after the coaching stock was moved out of the way, the loco ran from the shed to the station area to test the clearances there. The track in the Bath direction will be ...

I like them too but being a 6'6" gorilla, knee room is everything ! I also found the S.A.D. artificial daylight lights quite areeable too.
Felt nice to see a bit of cash being spent ( even though at the expense of a much nicer layout ).

Next question: when are the lawyers going to get the useless ...

I had my first trip today on a refurbished (Graffiti) HST.

Even though I only travelled from Bristol Parkway to Swindon (a very short journey) and found the seat to be rather uncomfortable.

Far too hard !

very little now runs through it apart from the severn beach shuttle and the occassional diversion.

I believe that it is on the National Rail fragile list - i.e locos are all but banned from it.

I knew the line well from around 1967 when I first became interested in railways and I used to have a ...

Thanks for the 'now' version of the 13 arches.

Ian kindly prompted me tonight.

I remember going along on the photographic trips Doug Tiley (my father) made of the 13 arches.

We used to live just a few minutes walking distance away from the arches.

I have resized the images and uploaded them on ...

It was 20 minutes late.

However as it was an hour down at one stage it was remarkable to be back in BTM only 20 minutes down.

Going down Abergavenny bank it reached at least 80, and racing through Severn Tunnel Junction Station it was awesome.

We were scheduled to stop at Magor for water but as ...

It left Hereford an hour late on the way back!

It was a super fast run from Hereford to BTM on Saturday.

13 coaches in total.

I was on it !!

Disused Railways

I stubbled across this website of old disused railways by chance and wish to share it with you.

Although not of Bristol there are some railway relics covered that are quite nearby, ie The Old Severn Railway Bridge.

Found this pic on the web. Gloucester.

Is this the Bridge in question ?

The pic could have been taken from the opposite side.

PIC

I think the picture could be of the London Road Bridge, Gloucester.

This would be the bridge adjacent to the west side of the current Gloucester Station (Gloucester Central) and carries the line to South Wales.

The spire on the church is very similar to the spire which is pictured on page 67 of ...

53809 Bath Green Park

I was there it was a very good atmosphere.

I was also at Bath Green Park Shed 40 years ago (to the day!) to see the spam cans Bude and Biggin Hill being turned.

I had to go.

It was similar to my experience of seeing Concorde 002's maiden in 1969 and then the final flight in 2003.

It just had ...
