Why does society pander so much towards cyclists when so many of them appear to ignore the rules and regulations?

Cycle lanes that they don't use...they prefer pavements, red lights they don't stop at, they just ride through them.

And now another "green" initiative where on the official opening ...

The track is being inspected to see how much work would be needed before trains could start running again.

Er, rather a lot of work I suspect, after 49 years out of use. It never ceases to amaze me just how ignorant the press are in relation to matters railway :D

What do they expect is going to ...

It was a shame to read in Ground Signal, the news letter of the Avon Valley Railway Heritage Trust, that the gala was not profitable. I expect the hire costs for the J15 were partly to blame ?

and that training woman was not best pleased when the old bloke started speaking his mind. I wonder if he is still working at Kings Cross ?

A lot of the management view point was pure PR BS which I've witnessed in the large companies I've had the misfortune to work in.

I wonder how its ok to have a "charity" walk along a railway line yet then criticise some berk for riding a bike along it another day?

Personally I think organising a walk along a working railway (regardless of the fact that no trains were scheduled) is a bit daft as well.

From what i've read ...

The likes of comedy performers are DAFT.

Riding a bicycle along a working railway is STUPID and most likely against some railway bye-law.

I am surprised the previous poster doesn't seem too concerned.

I believe that the WSR has had a number of problems in the past with walkers and ...

However, I bet it is considered a very succesful marketing stunt by FGW.
Presumably they now have the names, phone number, email and postal address of many people and all for the cost of a one page web site.

Patronising email received from Ms Cropper today....

It gave the impression that choosing the 12:09 train was a mistake.....but don't worry as now all the other tickets have gone anyway.
But why not come on the day and watch everyone else having a great time travelling on the trains?

No thanks ...

Have you read "Lines to Avonmouth" by Mike Vincent an OPC publication?

It does talk about the sidings between the main line and the river, the PBA lines down to the Sludge Berth (where a number of boats are currently kept) and the Earth Sidings of BR.

Wagons on the Avonside branch

Whilst in the Lawrence Hill area last week, I noticed that some wagons were on the Avonside branch. Is the waste transfer station still being used and if so, does anyone know any details of train times etc?
