Did anyone notice the caption about track clearance, with a view to reopening the line?????

Have I missed something now that I am a "distant" observer in the Cotswolds?

The 50 failed with a coolant leak.

Every time I go on a tour with a 50, it fails. 50:50 chance of getting there I reckon *chortle*

The problems with the 50 weren't the only reason for the late running on the way back, a broken down unit (which took 5 hours to clear) between Shrewsbury and ...

Top day out (bloody long though!)! Full marks to the organisers, hope they raised a sufficiently substantial amount for charity!

Timings for the ECS move from Canton to Bristol, with the Hoover rumoured to be leading are as below.

Canton at 1410,
Severn Tunnel 1509-1511,
Pilning 1520-1538,
Bristol Tm 1605.

Like as not, the only locos allowed down the branch would be those headed for Portbury docks

Some good points however we donÆt want Portishead to be given a bare bones bus shelter 2 car single platform station fenced off then the rest of the land developed, leaving no room for expansion. A run round loop is essential.

Some good points there, but I think the idea of a weekend steam service, inclusion of run round loops and double tracking other than say, a passing loop at Pill is just dreaming and never going to happen. Dare I say, the inclusion of such things actually weakens the case a bit.

I'm pretty sure you can find a picture of this in "Reflections on the Portishead Branch" by Mike Vincent (good book btw).

It's out of print as I understand it, but copies do come up on eBay reasonably regularly.
