Re: Rhubarb Curve

I think it is because it passes close by a pub called the Rhubarb Tavern.

Quite correct, it's the railwaymen's name for the rather boringly titled 'Bristol Loop' from North Somerset Junction to Dr. Day's Bridge Junction. Which, like many locations on the railway it's named after the local public ...

Are we to expect trains to run from Bristol TM to London via Filton bank once again, as did 'The Bristolian'? <BJ>

Yes, the current plan is for 4 trains an hour from Bristol to Paddington. Two going via Box from Platforms 13 / 15 as now and an additional two going from the reopened old station ...

I don't think they're considering it... we've been told they ARE going to do it, political interference aside. Bristol Panel is earmarked for closure in 2015 for immediate demolition to allow this to happen.

Apparently it's going to be a 15 minute frequency service to Paddington with the exisiting ...

Nothing to do with the transfer of control to Didcot, this work has been on the cards for ages.

Basically the additional signal sections are to improve headways through Bath Spa and Keynsham (on the down).

Just how busy is the Portbury line, cant imagine it has a constant fleet of trains that would make it impractical to interleave a passenger train periodicaly.

Traffic on the Portbury branch varies depending on the demand for coal, cheapest price etc. Somtimes there can be one "on the block" all ...

Where and when did you join the engine? Did it go through Temple Meads in the end?
Highbridge B74 Signal (just Bristol side of the station) at about 0040. Yep, it went through Temple Meads.
