Autumn Steam Gala on the WSR, 4th to 7th October will feature 9F 92203, 5MT 73129 and Black 5 45379, 7F No 88. This is to mark the 50th Anniversary of the last "Pines Express" over the S & D.J.R.
I too had not heard of the term "Spaceships" for 9F's. I thought "Spaceships" were Bristol "LS" Buses :)

Surely not only is the pile of masonry being recycled but also is this plan. I do remember many years ago when Bath Road was still in existence there was talk of relocating the Depot from there to the triangle formed by the South Wales, London and Filton Bank lines. This fairly large parcel of land ...

Thats a very prototypical picture, Type 4 in two tone green, shut down and could we pretend it has failed - with steam coming to the rescue. How often did that happen in the 60's. Perhaps D of G is a bit too clean though, post it in black and white "MOW" for the true effect. Thanks for the memory.

I agree that the Oil Storage facility is at Flax Bourton although the junction into it off the main line is gone. (have a look on Google Maps - Station Road, Flax Bourton.)

The second picture is Backwell Common looking South West, the train is just about to cross a road of the same name, the ...

The Lodekka prototypes LDX.001 and LDX.002 were fitted with Bristol AVW engines which I believe were 6 cylinder.

No 33 Bus thread

C5000 was LHY 949, the chassis No. being LDX001. LDX002 was in the West Yorkshire Car Company livery fleet number 822 registration number JWT712. Whilst no doubt the second one came to Brislington on the odd occasion, there is no mention of it ever being part of or registered with the B.O.C.

Re: The no. 33 bus thread ....

caught the 33 bus
I don't wish to hijack this thread, so I'll start a new one about the 33 bus (and others) a little later today :D

:D

Way way back in the early 1960s, I was happily minding my own business at the bottom of Temple Meads station approach, when a Bath-bound 33 service turned up ...

Winscombe Station

Last Friday would have been an excellent day for exploring, hope you had a fruitful day, we must be grateful that we still have access and can at least photograph the remaining infrastructure. There appears to be no trace of the line at the Quarry when you walk along the main road between Sandford ...

You might have to try a visit to the Central Library and see if they have the following book. This link will give you more information about it. I do remember a company called Holms Sand and Gravel who traded from Pooles Wharf at Hotwells, but cannot remember the names of any of their vessels. http ...

I take my hat off to the front line staff of the TOC's who without doubt have made a tremendous effort to keep their side of the business running under the most trying of circumstances. Their only thanks is to see the media and popular press running down their efforts without a mention of them. No ...

Ditto Robin's remarks, I am pretty sure there was quite a bit of re-alignment of both roads, and that there were traffic lights in later years before the roundabout. As for Whitchurch halt have a look at http://www.tventon.freeserve.co.uk/whit.htm he has a bit about his model of Whitchurch halt on ...
