Bristo Sand Dredgers

It could be the Port of Bristol Authority Grab hopper Dredger named Clifton which was used for Mud Dredging, this was built by Charles Hill in 1968 1150 tons and worked all over the PBA system.

Walt Pickering was a real Character I visited his home in Wick Road several times to measure & fit Carpet and he had a collection of all his Radio Bristol
recordings on Casette tapes.

I notice in the Auction Catalogue for the Lynton & Barnstaple Rly Auction
at Twerton Park on July 11th there is a GWR blue print of a section of the
Severn Rail Bridge (1939) and a locking sketch of the swing bridge showing
semaphores(1896), Could be of Interest to Modellers

Southern Region Locos in the Bristol area.

Also there were the "Monkey Specials" to Clifton Zoo.
Mike Vincent in Lines to Avonmouth, mentions that on at least one occasion a Bulleid Pacific worked through on a Portsmouth-Clifton Down zoo excursion.
I can remember seeing several of these at Montpelier in the 1950s.

The Picture of Long Ashton can be found in Somerset Railway Stations by Mike Oakley (Dovecote Press) and shows the Nameboard and a LMS Crab on an Excursion train in 1937.
Nightingale Valley Halt is also shown in this fine book and this is the only Pic
