Well, tgm, we'll do our best and then hold you to your kind offer.

I believe that 1st Take made something about BTM with some decent archive, but I've not seen it.

Does anyone know if anything became of Lulu's documentary on Temple Meads. It had the potential to be quite interesting.

Hi Nick

Yes it came together, but was a vast disappointment (to us) due to the severe lack of funds, utter indifference of the distributor and difficulty obtaining funds from ...

The Top of the Pops from BTM was in fact 30.08.1984

Jimmy Saville was on the HST and Howard Jones performed Like to Get to Know You Well on Platform 3.

My father in full GWR Uniform (circa 1900) greeted the train into the station, I know he has it on video somewhere, along with the Queens visit ...

I still make the occasional visits to Temple Meads, normally on a Tuesday when the nuclear flasks might run. There are usually a couple of other enthusiasts there, but not the numbers we remember from the 60s and 70s. Most of the workings are units with the freight workings to and from Portbury to ...

Sorry Lou but I will not even be in the country by then .
That sounds ominous. I hope it's for pleasure.

Thanks for the permission.

Also, someone told me Top of the Pops was broadcast from there in the 1980s does anyone know about this?

That would probably be when a short HST made an attempt to break a speed record of some sort, running from Paddington to Temple Meads via Bristol Parkway. Power car 43002 was named "Top of ...

For those who are camera shy, does anyone out there have any shots of BTM, especially the Goods Yards and Sheds they might like to share?

I have no shots of the Goods Yard and Sheds and using footage of a derelict site and a car park doesn't do much for me.

Also, someone told me Top of the Pops ...

Hello everyone

Sorry for the delay in responding, IÆve been working myself silly.

Hobbler, I really could do with your memories. Would you consider talking please?

I was a Railway Student 1970-71 based at Bristol, and spent some time in the Area Manager's Office based on the station. Would ...

Hobbler

Those are really evocative memories of a bygone era when the world seemed a much nicer place.

Just the sort of thing I would love someone to say on camera.

Thank you for sharing.

Thank you WR Tim, I didn't realise there was a lovely big pavement there.

I have also been looking at Cattle Market / Feeder Rd, Avon St and Friary.

Anyone know if there is a path along the river too?

Hello again

As you are all so shy about talking on camera.......can any of you make any suggestions about good locations outside BTM to film the lines and station from.

Perhaps areas known to spotters, but less obvious to someone 'non-local' - my parents lived in Bristol for years and ran a toy ...
