Can somebody tell me why the Western was badged "D1009 Western Invader" when I saw it at Bristol Parkway on Thursday 8th? Was it not Western Champion. Are numbers and nameplates swapped, and why?
Thanks,

The Permanent Way
Would anyone want a free copy of this book (a play) by David Hare? I have a spare copy. I believe it is written by splicing real quotes from individuals concerned, their names are changed though. Some more info out there on the web I'm sure.

Thornbury to Stonehouse - Journey time
Hi,
Can anyone please, stitch together the timetables of old to tell me what the journey time was from Thornbury to Stonehouse/Stroud. I know that Thornbury to Yate took 22 minutes, typically for a stopper.
Perhaps consider that the Thornbury branch line was open to passenger traffic around 1872 ...

New cut Bridge
Not sure what the name of this bridge is. I would be interested to see how the harbourside loop crossed the New Cut to reach the Ashton Junction.
I believe that the rail bridge also provided an elevated roadway connection?
(edit) I found Ashton Swing Bridge on the website: http://bristol-rail.co ...

white platform-side plaques
Can somebody tell me what the white plaques are for, located on the vertical wall of a platform? I can't help noticing them these days. They appear to have a vertical sliding indicator on them. Something to do with measuring the loading gauge?
Thanks
