Bristol On Film

Just watched this on BBC4 (8:30pm) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... l_On_Film/
A few glimpses of the railway but some superb film of various parts of the city, including Concorde, the docks, Frys and the dizzy heights of changing the bulbs on the Suspension Bridge.

Think this is the subject of Monster Moves on Channel 5 tomorrow, 19th July.

From their website
A pair of vintage steam locomotives are shipped 850 miles across Turkey, before being shipped back to the UK.

The two old steam locomotives were sent to Turkey by Winston Churchill but are now in ...

Don't know if this is in time for you............

See here http://www.bristol-rail.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1941 for times. Both services are now 67 hauled.

According to tauntontrains.co.uk, the Paignton service is due to go back to unit operation at the beginning of October.

Don't know about ...

Does seem a fairly busy site when to look at it, it doesn't seem particularly special.
But a change of job means no more trundling up the M5/M4 for me any more so no more wondering what will be there or if anything will be passing over the M4 by the M32 junction or will there be anything on a low ...

Thanks.
It's been down in Taunton for a fair while now. Do you know why it's off to Selhurst?

Thanks Tony.

I've been passing there around 7:15 in the morning and there is a rake of tanks and loco there most days. Over the last couple of weeks it does seem that it is hauled by a 60 although I've seen a 66 or two on it.

Westerleigh Oil terminal

Passing Westerleigh oil terminal on the M4 this morning and saw an EWS 60 waiting at the north end and a track machine in a siding, couldn't tell which one while trying to also keep an eye on the road!

Made me wonder, I presume the tanks come south in to the site then the loco runs round to the ...

Low loader 73

While travelling home from work yesterday saw 73133 on a low loader heading north on the M5 passing Clevedon around 18:40.

Any ideas where it was off to? Looked a little faded and a bit weather beaten.

Not sure how accurate that the number is. Having had another look, it looked a bit like a cross between http://bristol-rail.co.uk/wiki/TDB968006 and http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevin_r_boyd/2441954177/

Very much looking like a grubby yellow box on wheels. Don't remember seeing anything on the ...

Low loader track machine

Bit of a long shot I realise but...............

Travelling to work this morning heading north up the M5 around 6:50am, just gone past junction 18 and there was what appeared to be a grubby yellow track machine on an Allelys low loader. Was difficult to get a good view while driving safely!
Seemed ...

That's where I got my info from. 57309 must have been on a quick visit as 57312 & 57316 were on duty today with 67016 & 67017 on the Cardiff/Paignton.

Sounds like the replacements for the 67s on Cardiff - Taunton now that the 67s are on Cardiff - Paignton duty.

The timings I've got scribbled down are

57/3
0728 Taunton 0903 Parkway (0800 W-s-M)
0913 Parkway 1001 W-s-M (1001 W-s-M - then ECS to Taunton)
1102 Taunton 1324 Cardiff (1134 W-s-M)
1400 ...

Seems yet another crackpot idea. Just put trains back on a train line!
Really not sure how these bendy buses could share the rail line, didn't think it was wide enough?
Also, can't see how the buses could have their own lane on the A369 as again it isn't wide enough so the buses will just get stuck ...

Great British Railway Journeys BBC2 18:30

With an antique railway guide under his arm, Michael Portillo gets on and off trains in a jaunty celebration of our railways, stopping to chat seemingly at random.
Michael Portillo takes to the tracks with a copy of George Bradshaw's Victorian Railway Guidebook. In a series of four epic journeys ...
