I haven't posted for a long time but I used to live in North Somerset before retiring to live in North Norfolk, about 15 minutes from the North Norfolk Railway. I was told by one of the M&GN Society officials at the weekend that the J15 will be at Bitton for a while. It's a great loco, 100 years old ...

Just watched this on BBC4 (8:30pm) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b012p58f/On_Film_Bristol_On_Film/
A few glimpses of the railway but some superb film of various parts of the city, including Concorde, the docks, Frys and the dizzy heights of changing the bulbs on the Suspension Bridge ...

Spot on, the photo was apparently taken by H C Casserley in August 1940, just after the line closed and the loco is "Terrier" No. 4. The photo appears in several of the books about the W, C & P.

Guess it must have been either very early or very late tonight, stood on Bleadon Hill in a cold wind for 45 minutes from 19.20 to 20.05 but no show.

Blue Pullman coaches in BTM

As I arrived at BTM this morning I noticed a mixture of 4 or 5 old coaches parked on the siding alongside Platform 15, including 2 Blue Pullman coaches. Bearing in mind the Torbay express stock already parked in the station and the 3 old first class coaches that have been there for a few weeks now ...

You did hear a class 56. They are being used on crew training runs for the contract won by Fastline to transport coal out of Portbury to Rugeley and (I believe) Ironbridge. Not sure if this means that Freightliner have lost out, or if this will run in addition. The loco normally runs into Portbury ...
