Very generally speaking our Gala events are not designed to make lots of money. They are partly done for publicity, to provide an attractive event for our visitors (old and new) but also to allow our members ...

Just in case you haven't come across the details yet. Our Diesel Gala will be held on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April and feature BR Class 14 No. 9521 which usually finds itself at the Dean Forest Railway.

FIVE decades after the last Pines Express passenger train passed through Bitton, near Bristol, the journey is to be re-created on the anniversary.

No. 5521 arrived yesterday and will be undergoing its mechanical exam today.

For info, it's facing towards Bath (bunker first to Oldland).

It is expected that GWR Small Prairie No. 5521 will be arriving at Bitton in the immediate future for a short stay of a few weeks. The engine will be visiting from its current home at the Swindon and Cricklade Railway - this being its second time at Bitton, having previously visited in 2009.
