Yeah, great photos! Thought this was a good oppertunity to post a few from another journey to Cardiff Bay, it's a little out of the area though so I hope no-one minds!

Feel free to use these for bugpics.co.uk or anything else!

Thanks for the link! I would have used it, as I thought the morning 9am train would be included - but it turns out the ú1 ticket means a departure from Bath at 4:05pm arriving Waterloo 8:15pm!

I think the press and polititians are looking at the timetable restructuring through rose-tinted glasses. Yes, there are some improvements, but many places are also going to lose out with a reduction in services. Not everyone will benefit in the way they're claiming.

When I travelled there was only very occasional overcrowding (never off-peak) and very few cancellations so I guess I was lucky! They could have done more on the train maintenance side of things, I agree, but by their last year in operation, they served stations around their network extremely well ...

Details are a little vague, but there's not much happening around the Bristol area by the looks of things. It'll be interesting what specific changes are made to the SB line and Weymouth trains, and glad that Dean and Dunbridge are to get more trains. Unfourtunately no sign of the midday Brighton ...

This is excellent news, as ú1 SWT London Waterloo tickets from Bath and Bristol may just save the Bristol-Waterloo service - as I expect it'll be *extremely* popular :D

No joke! For all the times *I've* been travelling there's been very few problems. The only bad things in 3 years that I can think of were twice in which there was a delay of 45 minutes or so and the occasional problem of trains at 200% of capacity, but that was it...and Wessex shaped the strong and ...

Wessex Trains, despite a few mishaps, have provided a first-class service and have really developed the West network well over their years. I commend them highly for this. It's a shame First are undoing some of this but I hope they change their timetables soon.

Well done Wessex, and thanks for the ...

Liverpool Lime Street - Bath Spa ?

After checking the departure times to leave Cheltenham, I saw this unusual Liverpool Lime Street-Bath Spa service. I can't get to the station in time to board it, though! Any idea what it is? Whatever service it was, it was being held up by the ton of delays this morning...

A few thoughts...

The fact that there is one 2 hour gap of services in Oldfield Park/Keynsham is a major disappointment, (The BTM-Brighton service no longer calls at these places in the new timetable) especially seeing I was promised by the Transport Minister that we'd see an hourly service to both ...

That's good news :D

Well, the Penzance-Paddington Sleeper service is safe and half hourly services from Cardiff-Paddington are to be kept, so thankfully that's 2 concerns ticked off the list! I hope First will consider those at Melksham for the cuts proposed there.

And I like the sound of the ...

I'm sure that there is one big reason that ridership numbers aren't as high as they should be. Going to the journey planner on National Rail's website, typing in Bristol Temple Meads to London Waterloo returns a page with only FGW services to Paddington with a change on the Underground. This is a ...

By doing this, Arriva Trains Wales have cut much needed local services from Bristol to Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance and also cut direct services from Bristol to the west of Cardiff. Once again, another kick in the teeth for Bristol and South West rail travellers. There was nothing wrong with Arriva ...

Virgin services around Cheltenham were so full last week no-one could even board two Voyagers stopping at Cheltenham Spa (And that was at 1 in the afternoon!), so if the emergency repair works are still going on for the better part of next week, and FGW are encouraging people to travel to the ...
