An excellent (and rare) view of Westerleigh West Junction signalbox. This was taken during the summer of 1970 and the signalman is Ray Hicks, one of several members of the Hicks family who were signalmen along this stretch of line. © Peter Rendall |
Looking through the arches on Westerleigh Road. The bridge closest is No. 283 on the Badminton line to London, while the bridge in the background carries the line to Yate. |
The line to Yate curves around on one side of what was once a triangular junction. |

The signal protecting Westerleigh West Junction. The old signal gantry next to it was put in when BR was considering two-way working between Swindon (Wootton Basset) and Stoke Gifford. The cabling however wasn't up to it and the signalling was left as it was. The gantry remains. The line in view here is the direct line from Parkway to Swindon. |
