The Chocolate Path and Harbour Railway

More of the bank of the river Avon has collapsed taking a large section of the Chocolate Path with it, and leaving the track of the Harbour Railway suspended in mid air. Looks like it will be closed for some foreseeable time.

Some speculation about a burst water main which may, or may not have contributed to the latest slippage.

Very sad to see this. Bristol City Council have done nothing for years and they have known since 2017 that this could happen

There were problems along there back in the 1980s when I worked in the Bristol Area Freight Centre.
Because of a danger of collapse of the bank/wall the daily coal train from Aston Meadows to Wapping Wharf was only permitted to run when the tide was high,
