For the past year and a bit I have been busy writing an account of how I grew up learning about railways in the Bristol area during the final decade of steam as we transitioned into the diesel era. I then embarked on my apprenticeship based at Bath Road diesel depot, ending up staying in the railway industry for over 4 decades predominantly on the Western Region including much involvement with the St Philips Marsh complex. The final phase was as an Area Operations Manager at Temple Meads before retiring ten years ago.
My work has now been published in two volumes entitled 'The Bristolian' and is available on Amazon. It will also hopefully be available from our local independent bookshop 'The Titfield Thunderbolt' in Bath. A fair amount of the content is the sort of material which would have been included in the original Archive which we lost a few years back.
