Website Views

Just giving myself and all contributors a pat on the back here. The website has just passed the 24 Million view mark! Currently stands at 24,022,899! And that doesn't include page views on the forum (which admittedly is very quiet so wouldn't add much to the number anyway). A big thumbs up!

Good news! Guilty as charged regarding the forum. I am trying to play catch up but as I no longer live in the catchment area, I struggle to keep up with local events.

I see you have ben adding lots of photos recently Pete but there is one I think would be worthy of inclusion under the Barrow Road heading. Whenever I have travelled through the Lawrence Hill/Barton Hill area in recent years, I have felt very sad that the area I grew up in has been wiped from the face of the earth. But then I discovered a small remnant where the Bristol - Bath footpath and cycleway passes under the north end of St Philips Causeway. The stonework is easily recognisable as part of the viaduct which spanned the shed and goods yard. It is roughly where the waste transfer station used to be. On one side of the tunnel a mosaic mural has been produced showing a High Speed Train and a good representation of a red LMS Jubilee. I didn't have a camera with me when I passed through so if any of our contributors happen to be in the area, how about taking a photo to be added to the archive bringing the story of the railway in this area up to date.

I'll have a look on the cyclepath next time that way :)

I have added quite a lot of photos of late, still have more to add, although I've taken less the last couple of years and really need to play catch up with so many locations changed forever due to electrification!

It was at least three years ago I was last down there. Hopefully it hasn't been subjected to abuse by graffiti artists meanwhile. I didn't have time to stop and examine closely to see if there are any clues as to who created it.
