Peaks D1 - D10 in Bristol

Post by 22A »

OK folks, how many of the first ten Peaks (class 44 to you young 'uns) visited Bristol?

D10 was at Bath Road on an Open Day in the late 60's. It was listed in the programme, but couldn't be seen as it was stabled in an "Out of Bounds" area.
Catching the train home at 4.00pm one weekday in 69 or 70, D8 was stabled on the sidings nearest Temple Meads.

Did any of the others make it though? I was told that "One passes through Stoke Gifford every Saturday about noon". We caught a bus out there, but as noon approached, so the did the bus home, so we ran down the embankment and just caught the bus, phew! As the bus pulled away, yep, a Peak passed through, but dunno which one.
