It was a trial run with DBC supplying a 42 vehicle top and tail train.
Initially the rear loco wasn't to supply power, it was to be called upon if required.

There is a DBC contract in the offing for the line.

The notice I saw clearly stated it was planned to go all the way with modified pilotman working in operation, the train was also top and tailed as the train would climb the steep grade on the line.

It did end up running very late, probably why it was cancelled, maybe somebody was out of hours etc.

I've been told in work that the stone trains for the Hinkley point project wont start until December. This will almost certainly put the Tytherington traffic back to then as well as the 2 go in hand in hand.

Been for a nosey this evening.

The former Grovesend headshunt which runs from roughly 6M 03C at the Grovesend Overbridge to the portal of Grovesend Tunnel at the A38 has been cleared of all vegetation. (Of which there was a lot!)

It has revealed a rustic set of red buffers still in situ right at the end, I can only assume they are planning to use this infrastructure as the Network Rail boundary ends where you can see the sleeper chained to the tracks - some distance from the current end of the line.

A high sided vehicle appears to have struck the level crossing lights at Latteridge in the last couple of days.

The posts are bent and the lights for the road users are currently pointing up the railway towards the Crossing Cottage.

Road learning is starting this week. Not sure if a light engine is being used but 2 ground staff are learning it on Thursday. Will check the planner when in work tomorrow evening.
