I very much doubt DB would have an 08 there to do anything. It was mentioned about extending towards the tunnel not sure what room that would provide.

Sorry, I don't understand what "MRL" and "bow" are?

And what are these jumbo sets?

Apologies if this is really obvious stuff that I ought to know.

MRL will be MENDIP RAIL LIMITED which are based if I am correct at Merehead on the mendips between Frome and Cranmore.

The Layout at the quarry is just a basic loop, no head shunts but length is limited, maybe they are concerned about traction making it up the grade at tytherington Villiage 1 in 56 in places.

Is the head shunt towards Grovesend Tunnel not usable anymore?

Surely an 08 is going to be unbelievably slow, especially with that many wagons.

Stopblock, do we know when this might happen?

I think this is just people's assumptions and ideas, the 08 wouldn't work the train all the way from the Mendips, just yard shunter! Think it would be impossible to split the train with the loco on the Tytherington end for it to run round unless the headshunt was reinstated and dump one rake down there! Or use 2 loco's in top'n'tail form!

The head shunt is very overgrown and or rusty and perhaps rotten with the last train down there having been 20+ years ago, not impossible to clear it and relay though i doubt if the flow would warrent that much expeniture on hardware.

Whats stopping the train from approaching from glos then travelling to Westerleigh and staging there the loop is plenty long enough, and track Bi directional to enter or leave the quarry branch.

Speaking to a Network Rail MOM yesterday and he said that they are already to go just waiting on Mendip Rail. Then a colleague of mine said later to me that Colas would be working these jobs and its set to start in April.

Will be great to see the line in use once more, thanks for the info.

I suppose the chap I regularly see walking his dog along the tracks in Latteridge had better stop doing so...

This shiny new sign has appeared, I wasn't aware it was still part of the network. The boundary is much closer to the quarry, I thought...

This bridge is just before Grovesend Tunnel.
