Re: Coal import terminal at Royal Portbury Dock

It looks like the Portbury line is all but disused at the moment. There was one car train a few days ago but the various daily coal paths are always marked as cancelled.
I wonder if plasterboard manufacture might lead to any rail traffic in gypsum. Or would that be brought in by sea?

Re: 'Castle' HST sets

Another article lists all the Castle class nameplates which are being applied to the power cars. All of them have the castle suffix apart from St Michael's Mount. Many of the names once adorned the former pre-nationalisation GWR Castle class locos. One notable exception from the list is Bristol Cas...

Re: Bristol Area Signal Boxes

I asked Gerry if there are any pictures of those boxes in Mark's archive, and I'm afraid his answer was:

The simple answer is no because all three were remote from any public road or other access, the signalman presumably cycling along the line to the box.

Re: Bristol Area Signal Boxes

I've just looked in my copy of Steam Around Bristol by Gerry Nichols featuring the photos of the late Mark Warburton. There are photos where both Claverham and Yatton East boxes are just visible in the far distance; all that can be deduced is that both seemed to be of all-timber construction.
