The site of Cross Hands Halt viewed from Cross Hands Road on 5.1.05.

The bridge at this location. Notice the dings in the metalwork due to the number of vehicles taking the corner too fast.
By 2005 the bridge has been filled in and the bridge sides removed and replaced by plywood, as in this pic, and matchsticks behind where I'm stood.

The 2003 view towards Pilning. A crappy pic only included for comparison purposes.

The 2005 view reveals a cleared trackbed. This was used as an access point for the machinery used to fill in the bridge.
And of course the route was also walkable. Can you imagine that matchstick fence stopping speeding motorists from ending up where I'm stood?!

The site of Cross Hands Halt is private property and this is as close to the trackbed as I could get. The infilled bridge looks like an infilled bridge rather than the area reverting to what it looked like before the railway arrived. The structures on this route were built for double track although the line remained single track throughout its life.
